About the event
Working across sculpture, sound, video, and collage the artists are linked by their material processes. Reusing, erasing and trapping matter which is often either found or has been traditionally used for an alternate purpose. The artists work across traditional sculptural materials such as resin, wood and metal, as well as with prosaic materials that are more commonly found in domestic or occupational settings. Collaged with fabric and video, their works construct a strange and unstable monumentality.
The curation and injection of film/set design seeks to narrativise this formalist sculpture. Hinting at an absent character, collecting and mining streets, schools and workplaces for treasures. Again reusing the material of their work to produce something new. A process which happens within the sound that scores the space, arranged from recordings of Tunipanea’s instruments which themselves are made from repurposed materials. Further highlighting the themes of recycling and anti authorship.
Strange Field is an accessible venue but does not currently have an accessible WC.
