Becoming Red!
The first exhibition from the Cabbage residency: Becoming Red, by artist Elina Bry. “Strawberries feel forever they say, what’s it like to be one today? It’s not easy being Red they say.”
Time & Location
02 Sept 2022, 18:00 – 04 Sept 2022, 17:00
French Street, French St, Glasgow, UK
About the event
This exhibition explores Bry’s ongoing existence as her alter ego Betty the Strawberry, the childhood experiences that helped form Betty, and how these manifest through Betty to depict Bry’s relationship with her own queerness and the body. Exhibited all together for the first time, Becoming Red presents an autobiographical archive of Betty the Strawberry, depicted through moving image, print, painting, and performance.
Opening Hours:
Friday 2nd September 6-8pm, with a live performance from Betty the Strawberry.
Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th, 10-5pm.
Please note: The space is wheelchair accessible - but we do not have an accessible wc. The exhibition forms part of Cabbage’s Resilience Programme, which is concluding with a month long take over of French Street with different artist exhibitions and events each weekend in September - see what's on for more info.
